Simple Moisture Boost Hydro Mist Review

I heard about this new skincare product from Simple - a hydrating spray that gives you that little bit of extra hydration on days when your skin is feeling particularly dry - and had to dash out and buy it! I'm a bit of a Simple fan and this sounded too good to be true...
Simple claim that you can apply this mist over make up (a quick spritz with the pump action bottle will do) and it won't affect your make up or smudge it, but it will keep you hydrated! I was dubious about this claim at first, but after using it several times over the course of a week I have to say I'm impressed! I actually find that using the spray helps to 'set' my make up and prevent my face from looking powdery (as I use mineral powder foundation this is sometimes an issue for me!) It does make my skin feel less tight and dry too, which I guess means it does it's job! Definitely not a 'must-have' product - I could certainly live without it, but it's a nice little extra something to have in your handbag to make sure you're giving your skin the TLC it deserves.
The mist retails for £5.99 and I was disappointed with the amount of product I got for my money, however a couple of sprays doesn't use up that much product so I can see 50ml lasting for quite a while. Click here to go to the Simple website and read their claims about the product, or go to the Superdrug website to purchase it online.

I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right

I have a new shoe love in my life! If you've read THIS post then you'll know than until now my heart was captured by some glorious floral wedges from H&M.... but it's time for those beauties to move over. My new infatuation is with these incredible t-bar courts:
I got them for £31 in the ASOS sale (down from £45) and despite them being ridiculously high - especially for work, and they're intended to be work shoes(!) they're VERY comfy and obviously incredibly beautiful. The materials used for the nude and black parts of the shoe are different - the black is a gorgeously soft and expensive feeling PU/fake leather that I can't get enough of! Can't WAIT to wear these to the office with a simple black shift dress and cardigan!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Review

Just to make sure my little lonely Rimmel lipstick doesn't feel left out, I'll do a quick Friday afternoon review on it!
This is Rimmel's 'Moisture Renew' Lipstick in shade 400, 'Berry Queen'. It a gorgeous dark pink, almost red, shade and goes on really nicely and smoothly. It's not as moisture rich as I'd expected, given its name, but it definitely doesn't DEhydrate your lips!
I really like this shade but I'm not sure I'd buy more from the Rimmel range for the price. It's £6.29 from Boots, which I just can't justify to myself given the fact that there are now MUA lipsticks that are just as good quality on the market for a fraction of that price. Linky!

I Want Never Gets... Leopard Print

I've come over all animalistic for this week's lustful posting! For some reason lately I've been hankering after all sorts of leopard print bits and pieces, here are a few from my feline-inspired wishlist..
These funky leopard print sunglasses would update any summer outfit and instantly add a bit of glam! Reasonably priced at £16, if I'm not careful these babies might end up on the end of my nose before you can say "where did you get your shades from?" Linky!
A slight continuation from the hat theme of a couple of weeks ago, this cute leopard print hat isn't something I would ever have the courage to wear myself, but I would definitely get some hat envy if I saw a fabulous female donning it in the street! £25 Linky!
Finally some classic Miss KG platform heels. I really love these shoes - I think if you wore them with a relatively simple outfit, maybe jeans and a blazer or a black plain dress, you could definitely pull off the chic animal print inspired look. But the risk of overdoing it and coming off looking like a 54 year old divorcee with a chain smoking habit and false hair is enough to stop me investing in these beauts. £65 Linky!

A quick note on brushes...

My HMIMFW post a while ago has inspired me to share with you the brushes I use everyday! This will only be a quick post but I hope it'll help you if you're in need of some new make up essentials!
This is my Lily Lolo Super Kabuki brush, which I use when applying my mineral foundation and finishing powder. I LOVE this brush, I've had it for about 7 months now and despite washing it every few weeks and using it every day it's held its shape nicely and hasn't shed any hair. Linky!

This is my blusher brush, from the Body Shop. Again I've found this brush to be such good value as I've had it for 15 months now and its still in perfect condition! No shedding and its stayed in shape and super soft. Linky!
My concealer brush is from Lily Lolo and I use this to apply my LL mineral concealer. Brilliant. Linky!

Finally, my eyeshadow brush is from the Body Shop. Don't want to sound repetitive but I've had this brush for AGES and provided I wash it every few weeks its stayed in excellent condition. Linky!

New header!

How do you like Bee's Knees' new header? I was getting a bit bored of the default one and decided to play around with it a bit! Let me know what you think!

Safe European Home

As promised, here is a post on what I'm packing and taking with me on my travels around Europe! By the time you're reading this I will be well on my way and discovering the hard way whether I was a savvy packer or not! It's a bit of a pic-heavy post, so enjoy!
I bought these grey/stone linen trousers from Oasis in their A/W10 sale, so they were only £10! (reduced from £55) They're light and not as easily creased as most linen trousers which will hopefully serve me well when I'm lazily shoving everything into my rucksack when travelling! They also have buttons which turn them into cropped trousers - I'm not usually a fan of crops but I think anything goes on the continent!

This cute jersey dress was £7.99 from H&M and is the ONLY dress I'm taking with me! I'm trying to pack mega light as everything I take with me I will have to carry on my back for 26 days! I thought this was nice and lightweight but with a funky pattern so ideal for travelling!

Here is a pic of the plain vests I'm packing - random shapes and sizes, all warm neutral tones and easily layered! I think they're all from New Look & none cost more than about £8.

My first (and probably only) pair of Hareem pants! These bad boys were £7.99 from H&M and are actually a nice neutral brown colour, which ties in perfectly with the rest of my travelling wardrobe. I bought these because they're so cheap and comfy (they're made from a divinely soft jersey fabric) and I thought they'd be perfect to travel in!

I love this tie detail vest top from New Look! Again a bargain at £7.99 I thought it might be nice to mix things up a bit, whilst keeping with the same colours. I was also a bit inspired by Scarlett Johannsson's wardrobe in the film 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' when I bought this... great film btw!

I love the colour of this adorable purple jersey tshirt! I think this was ~£10 from New Look again, and I like the floaty cap sleeves - will be useful if I'm silly enough to burn my shoulders! Nice different colour too.
This cute yellow floral print New Look top was a total impulse purchase - it fits perfectly and was only £5 so I'm really happy I randomly picked it up on the way to the tills!

Finally, 2 bargain hoodies from H&M for those cold nights spent stumbling around unfamiliar surroundings in the European heat! 2 for £10 - ideal!

Read My Lips - lipliner

Despite being a total lipstick junkie I've only recently started to use lipliner! I bought these 2 in the past couple of months and I've been itching to share them with you.
I bought this Barry M lip liner pencil in shade 2 'dark pink' to wear under my pink lipsticks on a night out. Its quite a bright, bold colour which is ideal as it matches most of my night time pink colours perfectly! I tried this out as a lip colour on its own with a little lip balm and really liked the effect so I might wear it without lipstick more often! These are £2.99 each Linky!
I also got this No 7 Perfect Lips liner from Boots with a voucher a few weeks ago. The voucher was for £5 off so instead of it being £7.50 I got it for the far more reasonable price of £2.50! Its shade 15 'fire', and was intended to go under my brighter red lipsticks on nights out. This one isn't a pencil but instead is one of those that comes in a plastic tube and you twist the end to make the colour come out. I'm not sure which style I prefer to be honest, but both the Barry M pencil and this No 7 did the job perfectly. Linky!
Here are both liners swatched on my arm - the top is the pink Barry M and the bottom is No 7 red. It's actually hard to tell the difference between the colours, the No 7 one is quite a pinky toned red which is a bit annoying but both give good coverage and last all night without leaving any staining. I'd definitely recommend the Barry M liner but I'm not sure if I'd repurchase the No 7 unless I got it on offer again!

I Want Never Gets... Chloe

Chloe dresses are what I dream of when I'm thinking about work in my sleep. I always seem to be wearing an incredibly chic Chloe dress and every time it feels like I am the most sophisticated and stylish girl in the world. To my detriment, I've never had the pleasure of trying on a Chloe dress but I imagine the feeling is probably better than sex.
This almost-edible coral dress is so made to be worn in the summer! I can't possibly imagine a better structured, more versatile dress to wear on a warm sunny afternoon. Perfection.
I love this simple, elegent number. The open back is just a delight - so unexpected but it brings a lovely twist to an otherwise Chloe-by-numbers dress.

This is exactly the kind of dress I would be wearing in one of my aforementioned dreams. Such a classic cut but beautifully made, you know you'd feel special wearing this creation even if you were just popping to the newsagent! (please note, I do not in any way advocate wasting a dress of this calibre on your newsagent)

Fabulous Nails #4

I'm back again with an update on my most recent nail varnish looks. I've been a bit less busy than usual recently so have had more time to play around with nail polish, so expect a couple more 'Fabulous Nails' posts in the next couple of weeks.
First up is the traditional black Nail Effects on a gold Miss Sporty base. This has to be my go-to nail look for when I'm having a bad day and need some perking up. I love the way the black shatter looks on metallic polishes, and this is my all time favourite combo. It's a slightly more neutral way of wearing the Nail Effects, in fact I wore my nails like this to a job interview (and got the job!)

This is a shimmery purple Miss Sporty shade that I tried for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I really like this shade but there's something about it that puts me off wearing it - maybe its not exciting enough? I'm not sure, maybe I'll be putting this one away and only bringing it out for wearing around the office.
Back to Barry MI used the Lemon Ice Cream and the Mint Green to create a half and half nail look. It's something I've seen on lots of other people but wasn't entirely convinced I'd be able to paint it myself without making a mess! I managed it just fine and would encourage you all to give it a go, it's probably one of the easiest ways to get interesting nails (second only to Nail Effects of course!)

Festival Fashion!

So I spent last weekend in Ireland at Oxegen festival and had such a BLAST! In the couple of days before I went I had a sneaky shopping trip and picked up these bits and pieces...
How cute are these aztec print shorts?! I love them! I bought them for £8 from Matalan - have tried to get a link but can't seem to find the exact pair on the website. They're just long enough not to be obscene and looked perfect with long black socks and wellies!
I adore this faded American flag print crop tee! I wore this on the Saturday with my basic denim shorts and of course wellies! Its made from a lovely soft jersey material which was ideal for the warm weather but easily to pile on the layers when it got colder after dark! Again, can't find this on the website but it was £12 from Matalan.
Finally, this simple and wonderful Beatles tshirt was £12.99 from H&M (I think!). Speaks for itself really - teamed it with simple shorts, long socks and wellies. Perfect for festivals!
Have you been to any festivals this summer?

Oxegen Festival 2011

I mentioned before that I was heading to Dublin in Ireland for Oxegen 2011 - I had SUCH a good time! Despite a tiny bit of rain on the Friday we had wonderful weather all weekend.
Here are a few snaps of my favourite acts from the weekend:
Two Door Cinema Club & Miles Kane

The Naked & Famous and Arctic Monkeys

Jimmy Eat World & Foo Fighters

& OF COURSE Beyonce & Coldplay!
