Superdrug Haul

Hi guys! Another haul post because my spending has been out of control! I really need to reign in my spending and I'm hoping to start up my SAVE don't SPEND series in October and regularly keep a spending diary. But until then, on with the show!

As you can see this was a bit of a random splurge! A couple of things that I actually 'needed' and then some extra indulgences.. as per usual.

I plan on dedicating a whole post to this, but to cut a long story short I have some marks on my face that I want rid of and I picked up this B. Even Skintone Corrector in the hopes that it would do just that! This was £9.99 HERE.

Since moving in with my boyfriend I haven't really spent very much time pampering and relaxing - I made a decision to change this and invested in some face masks to start me off! I really like Superdrug's face mask range as they are all cruelty free, very reasonably priced and I often get two uses out of one sachet. These were 99p each HERE.

Since I went blonde (full post on this coming soon I promise!) I have been using silver toning shampoo regularly to keep the brassiness out of my hair. It's quite bad for my hair and tends to make it dry so I popped some VO5 hot oil treatments into my basket to use after I've washed the silver shampoo out. I've been doing this for a few weeks and it's already making the world of difference. These were two for £7 but are usually £4.29 for four HERE.

And of course no Superdrug or Boots haul would be complete without me adding some new nail polishes to my collection! I have been hankering after Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Lychee for months so it's no surprise I now own it! I have also wanted to try the red Gelly Hi Shine and since these were on offer (although I can't remember what offer) I persuaded myself to buy them. These aren't online but are available in your local Boots or Superdrug.

Railway Station Nail Polish Haul

Hi everyone! Today's post is about a trip I made to Boots whilst waiting for my train to Leeds in King's Cross. I actually went to the St Pancras branch as it's much bigger with plenty of make up to choose from, and only 5 minutes' walk from King's Cross. I had some time to kill so sauntered on down to the make up aisle...

...and walked out with four new polishes to add to my collection! I started out at the Barry M stall and noticed the new confetti top coats were out and on offer as part of the wider make up buy one get one half price promotion.

It took me a long time to decide between the colours but eventually settled on Liquorice (black and white) and Bubblegum (blue and white). I think the black and white will be really easy to wear and could be layered over different colours to create a nice look. Bubblegum is definitely a summer top coat that I can't wait to wear (on weekends, I doubt work will approve!) 

Once I'd decided on the Liquorice top coat, I realised I didn't have a black polish with me and I really really wanted to try it out that weekend! So off I trotted to the Seventeen stand where I picked up a black polish and this pretty glitter/shimmer polish Navy Glint. I haven't tried polishes from Seventeen before so I'm intrigued to see what they'll be like!

Barry M Lip Gloss - 5 Bubblegum Pink

Hi guys! Today I'm posting about a lip gloss, not something I often do on Bee's Knees as I'm not much of a lip gloss person. Unlike a lot of my friends I never had a lip gloss phase as a teenager, so I feel like a bit of a beginner.

If you're a follower of Bee's Knees you'll know I'm a complete fan girl when it comes to Barry M Nail Paints, and the Lip Paints are also pretty awesome. I picked the Lip Gloss up a while ago in shade Bubblegum Pink on a hot afternoon when it seemed like madness to wear lipstick!

Bubblegum Pink is the perfect summer shade, it's so girly and pretty and easy to wear with just about everything! Obviously with lip gloss you're never going to get the same colour payoff as with a lipstick or lip stain, but this is just the right amount for a subtle day look. 

The gloss isn't too sticky and tacky on the lips, which is good because that drives me insane! You obviously need to reapply throughout the day but if the gloss does wear off it's not noticeable at all. I don't think I'll pick up any other shades because I much prefer lipsticks but this is a nice one to have in my collection, especially in the summer months!

Fabulous Nails #47

Hi guys! Today I'm sharing a nail look featuring a nail polish from my May Favourites (HERE) - Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in shade Papaya.

It's such a simple, pretty nail look for the summer - even next to my pale skin! As I've said before, I am a big fan of the Gelly Hi Shine formula as it only takes one or two coats to get a really good opaque colour and it lasts 4-5 days with no/minimal chipping. 

At £3.99 this really is a good quality, value for money polish that you'd be silly not to snap up next time you're at the drugstore! Grab it from Superdrug instore or Boots instore or online HERE.

Barry M Moisturising Lip Paint - shade 161

Hi guys. You will probably already know that I'm a massive fan of Barry M, and also a bit of a lipstick addict. Put those two things together and you get quite the dangerous cocktail, especially when Barry M have brought out a reworked formula for their Lip Paints which is allegedly more moisturising..

The packaging for the Moisturising Lip Paints is bright fuschia, but otherwise exactly the same as the usual black Barry M Lip Paints.. I picked up shade 161, a beautiful coral shade. 

This was the stand out shade of the range for me, it just seemed so perfect for Spring and such a pretty coral pink shade! I was so excited to try it for the first time, I popped it on as soon as I got home! It's quite difficult to apply and does drag on the lips, but if you persevere you can get a really good coverage. I imagine this is quite difficult to apply with a lip brush.

Here's the colour on my lips - I love it and have been wearing it on the weekends ever since I bought it! It lasts for hours without fading, doesn't dry out my lips in the slightest (and I have quite dry lips naturally) and doesn't bleed. It's genuinely a winner for me, and I'm quite keen to try some of the other shades! For the price this is by far the best value for money lipstick I've come across in a while.

Fabulous Nails #41 feat. Ciate nail caviar pearls

Hi everyone! Today's post is a nail look featuring one of the Ciate nail caviars that I received in the Mini Mani Month last December (HERE is the blog post about it). It's not a look I would wear everyday, but it's quite unique for special occasions!

I used a gold Barry M polish I received as a gift with purchase from Superdrug at the end of last year, as I think it complements the colours of the caviar nicely. 

This nail caviar is Bumble Bee - quite appropriate for Bee's Knees! I think this would look really nice with a black polish too, and to be perfectly honest I might prefer that combination because the finished look with gold nails wasn't quite what I had in my mind.

I found the caviar pearls relatively easy to use. I painted my nails in the usual way and then before applying a topcoat on my accent nail, whilst the polish was still wet I placed a small plate underneath my hands and shook out some of the pearls onto my nail ensuring you have an even spread and no gaps. I then pressed them down onto the nail using my finger, and left for a couple of minutes before covering with a good top coat. I received a mini funnel with the Mini Mani Month which is ideal for getting the excess pearls back into the bottle.

I found the pearls lasted really well on my nails, better than I'd expected! I had a few fall off but not many in the 4-5 days I wore them for. I received lots of compliments and questions about my nails when I wore this look, as it's quite unusual and not something you see everyday! Now I've tried this one I'm keen to try the other caviars I received in the Mini Mani Month.

Superdrug Spring Haul - feat. Palmer's, Barry M & more!

Before I started on my May spending ban, I popped into Superdrug and ended up picking out quite a few products! I managed to justify this to myself as almost everything I bought was on offer, and some of the items are already staples in my daily routine. After popping in to pick up the Palmer's Moisturising Body Oil I left with a much lighter purse, oops!

I am a massive fan of the Palmer's Cocoa Butter and have been using it religiously for years. When I was perusing the Superdrug website and spotted a body oil by Palmer's, I knew I had to have it! As Palmer's products were on offer at the time (3 for the price of 2) I bought two oils and one gradual tanner, as recommended by a number of beauty bloggers! The oil is £5.09 from Superdrug HERE, and the gradual tanner is £5.35 HERE.

I haven't tried anything by NYC before but when I saw these Applelicious Glossy Lip Balms I just couldn't resist popping them in my basket, especially as they were on two for £3 at the time! They retail for £2.49 each and you can get them from Superdrug HERE and HERE.

The new Barry M Nail Art Pens were going to wind up in my collection at some point, so I bought them sooner rather than later and they were 3 for the price of 2! They're £4.99 each and as you can see, I bought every colour except pink! HERE

Finally I picked up the Collection Cream Puff lip cream in shade Fairy Cake. I had been trying to track down this product for weeks when I spotted it in the Superdrug close to where my Mum lives, so I snapped it up! I'm excited to try this hyped up lip cream, which retails for £2.99. You can buy it in store at Superdrug or online from Boots HERE.

Combined Haul - Barry M & Topshop Nails

Hi everyone. So today is a Tuesday and that means it should be time for a Tuesday Tales post, however I had real troubles uploading the photos for the post I had planned so it will have to be postponed until next week I'm afraid! Instead please enjoy this haul post that I've brought forward a couple of days!

On my lunch break a few weeks ago, I could not resist the unexplainable urge to hop on a tube and head to Oxford Street for some extreme impulse shopping.. I'd seen that Topshop Nails polishes were on two for £8 and I knew I had to have at least a couple!

I ended up grabbing these beauties - I actually got two of the blue polish and gave one to a friend as a gift. It's such a beautiful colour, I think it may be a Nails Inc Baker Street dupe!

Left > right Varsity, Tingle and Mannequin. They are usually £5 each but as I said I bought them on offer, 2 for £8. My previous experience with Topshop Nails isn't great but I'm hoping it will be better this time around! You can buy these polishes from Topshop in store or online HERE.

I then tottered down to Boots to indulge in some serious Barry M loving - lucky for me I was just before the end of the 3 for the price of 2 make up event.

I treated myself to two Gelly Hi Shine polishes in Papaya and Prickly Pear, and one of the new(ish) Moisturising Lip Paints in shade 161. I am mega excited to try out this lip colour as it looked like the perfect Spring shade when I swatched it in store! Wow - its May. Where the heck did that come from? It's feeling more and more like summer and I kind of like it. Along that summery theme comes today's nails... but first, if you haven't already entered my giveaway to win goodies from Essie, Sleek and A-Derma click HERE to enter now!

Today's nail look is one you've probably seen a million times before by now. The hype around the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine nail paints has been pretty unavoidable. I fell in love with this shade as soon as I saw it peeping out from behind some other colours in my local Boots. I had to have it! It's just the right shade to be bright enough for Spring but not too over the top to be unsuitable for work.

I've found all the Gelly Hi Shines I've tried so far to be really very decent quality for the price, which is £3.99. The consistency is thick, although I prefer to thin it out and apply 3 thinner coats to achieve better overall consistency. It lasts well for a drugstore brand, and the colour range is impressive. It's not the absolute best quality of every nail varnish I've ever tried, but it's worth having at least a couple in your collection. I think this shade, Green Berry, is ideal for porcelain gals like me but would also look super snazzy on someone with a nice glowy tan, a real all-rounder shade.

Fabulous Nails #33

Evening everyone! Today I'm sharing one of my favourite Spring nail looks - it hasn't felt like Spring but I think regardless of how layered up you are in snuggly knits and woolly tights, your nails are the simplest way of brightening up an outfit without catching a chill!

This look is a super simple and easy way to bring a bit of colourful sparkle to your nails! I painted my nails with Barry M Matt White and then applied Technic's Carnival sparsely over the top! I don't like white nail varnish on it's own but with a nice top coat it can look really unique.

Carnival is heralded by many beauty bloggers as a super-cheap (mine was £1.49 from Bodycare) dupe for OPI's Rainbow Connection. You can see that the 12ml pot is packed full of different sized multicoloured glitter and it's really easy to either apply sparsely (as I've done) or really go OTT and pack it on in lots of layer for a really full on glitter look!

You can pick up Carnival in some Bodycare stores and also from various eBay sellers.

Fabulous Nails #32

Ohh bank holiday Monday - we meet again. I know that for a lot of you today will be a jammy day off work and you will most likely spend it getting up to all sorts with your nearest and dearest. But because I'm in a long distance relationship, bank holiday Mondays always mean one thing for me, and that is leaving someone or someone leaving. I hate Sundays for this reason and this time it's just been postponed a day! I will be travelling back down to London this afternoon to return to reality and work on Tuesday. I have had a glorious week with my family up North which I am blessed to have enjoyed, but by the time I get on that train it will just feel like a wrench to be travelling away from my loved ones. If any readers are in long distance relationships I'd love to hear about it in the Comments!

Anyway, today's post is sharing one of my numerous purple nail varnishes. For whatever reason I buy a lot of purple polishes and never end up wearing them, so I'm making an effort to try them all out!

This gorgeous shade is 'Vivid Purple' by Barry M. You should know by now that Barry M is a massive feature in my ridiculous nail varnish collection, and this is one I picked up a couple of years ago when I worked at Boots and ended up buying up most of the Barry M colours we sold!

It's a really beautiful shade and I don't know why I haven't worn it before - I think the photographs show how pretty, glossy and shimmery it is quite well (for once!) It's not the most Spring-suitable shade but its a nice one to wear for work and lasts really well on the nail.

Fabulous Nails - Spring Pastels

Today's Fabulous Nails post is a little different to my usual style - I decided it might be nice to share some pastel shades from my collection which are bang on trend for Spring, which is right around the corner!

Here are the Spring shades I've chosen - some are true pastels, some are a little bolder and might not be what you'd expect but I think they are all staple colours for Spring. Read on to find out more about the 9 different shades I've chosen...

These three are some of my favourite Spring shades - from a minty green to a baby blue!

I have to say the formula of the MUA Pistachio Ice Cream is not the best, in fact it's probably the worst quality of all the polishes in this post. But the colour is wonderful, and for £1 you can't really go wrong!

Mint Green by Barry M can sometimes apply a little bit streaky at first, but three coats will give you an opaque colour. Bloo Bloo is a recent purchase and already a firm favourite - the formula of Models Own pastel shades is by far the best.

Coral shades will be a staple in everyone's Spring wardrobe, and this gorgeous nail colour is the ideal way to add the colour to your outfit. Uber pale purple and greens are also spot on for Spring.

I haven't tried Cloud on my nails yet so I can't really comment on it, but Tidal was a little disappointing for me. It was my first Topshop polish and it just didn't impress me - the formula was gloopy and uneven and it took 4 coats to get it right. Collection Fruit Loop is one of my all time favourites - a bargain buy but a polish that lasts and lasts and only takes 2 coats to be opaque.

Finally, what pastel nail post would be complete without a gorgeous buttermilk yellow? And I'm sure you'll agree that these two other beauties will be perfect for the warmer months ahead!

As I've already said, Models Own are above the rest for pastel formulas, but Barry M Berry Ice Cream is also pretty good. With only two coats you get a good amount of colour and it will last for a long time with a top coat. Although not strictly a pastel, Indian Ocean is an iridescent dream and just beautiful.
