Who wears short shorts? We wear short shorts!

I bought these AMAZING little shorts from ASOS at the weekend and I was so excited for them to arrive! I ordered them in a size 8 and a size 10, as I had an unfortunate incident with a pencil skirt recently*... but I tried them on and the size 8 fit perfectly! (if not a little big around the back, but don't all girls have that problem with shorts and trousers?)

I adore the funky spots and stripes pattern and can't wait to go to Oxegen festival in July and wear these little beauties with some long socks and wellies! I'd lusted after them for months (ish) but eventually bought them in the sale for the bargain price of £17.50. Summer staple. Linky!

*The unfortunate incident with the pencil skirt basically entailed me ordering a high waisted work skirt from ASOS in a size 8, which is 99% of the time my size for my bottom half (I'm most definitely a 10 on top!). Unfortunately it seems that ASOS accidentally labelled this skirt an 8 instead of a 6 or a 4, as I couldn't even zip it up halfway! And before you go asking 'who ate all the pies?' (lol) I fit very nicely into several other skirts that I'd ordered, all in size 8. But it did leave me a little shaken up and dented the old ego a fair bit.

Boots Haul: No 7

Here is the second half of my Boots haul. I've already posted about the bits I bought from Ruby & Millie, so this post is on the No 7 eye make up items I also treated myself to!

First up is this gorgeous eye shadow palette, its called the 'Define & Shimmer Eye Palette'. This was £7.12, reduced from £9.50. Linky!

You get 4 eye shadow colours and a pretty decent 2 ended applicator brush in this set. I've taken photos of each end as it has a slanted end and a curved end - this is a brilliant idea and the brushes are very good quality to say they came in a palette. I'm very impressed by this attention to detail from No 7.

The colours themselves are quite unique - I haven't come across a selection quite like it and I certainly don't own anything similar to the olive-y green shade. I've swatched them on my inner arm to show you, and here's a photo taken in sunlight to demonstrate the shimmery tones:

I really like these colours. The pearly white/cream isn't the most pigmented eye colour I've seen but it will definitely be useful for highlighting and creating a more multi-faceted eye look. The green as I've said is SO different to any green I have I'm really excited about creating a look around it. Its very shimmery so will be perfect for a night out. The two darker shades are really nice too and might be good for incorporating into a more natural daytime look. They're quite bold and nicely pigmented.

Overall I feel that this palette was superb value for money and I can't wait to start experimenting with the new shades! I also love the mini double ended brush that came with the set - so much better than those crappy sponge applicators you get with other brands!

 I also bought this set of Metallic Eye Liner Pencils, 5 colours for £10.12, reduced from £13.50. Linky! I bought the pencils in the 'Candy Cane' range as I thought the blues and greens would be more appropriate for me as I already use these colours on my eyes quite a bit.

Here are the pencils - they're quite small but you do get a nice range of shades and they are all gorgeous shimmery metallic colours. From top to bottom: Candy Lavender, Candy Lime, Candy Blue, Candy Green & Candy Pink.

 

Here are the shades swatched in the same order as pictured above. Apart from the Candy Pink shade, I was very impressed by the soft application and consistency of the bold colour with these pencils. I especially like the two greens and the darker blue, which will be great for a night out combined with the colours I got in the eyeshadow palette & also some of the Ruby & Millie shadows I posted about previously. Not too keen on the Pink but it does come out as more of a cream shimmer which is quite versatile and might be useful for opening up my eyes when used in a natural day look. 

I would definitely recommend these pencils - I think they're very good value for money and the shades are nice and varied. There's nothing worse than buying a set of pencils that turn out to be variations of the same colour!

Working nine to five, what a way to make a living...

As promised, here are the bits and pieces I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Dorothy Perkins for my work wardrobe. I've been very busy recently so it's taking a while for me to get around to posting about things, but I'm getting there eventually!

First up is this gorgeous 50s style linen skirt. The photo doesn't do this justice at all (plus I'm not much of an ironing person, so it's a little creased from being transported!).. but it's a lovely fit and hangs beautifully. Perfect for tucking a cute blouse into and wearing with some classic courts. £23. Linky!

 

A cute blouse like this one perhaps! I think this sold out super fast on the website as I can't get a link to it - sadface. But it was an absolute bargain at £15 in the sale. I love the adorable pussybow and the colour is divine - wearable in summer and also to spice up an otherwise dull winter look I think!

 

I LOVE this dress. Again, the photo doesn't do it justice but it's fitted like a shift dress at the top and then has lots of material that flares out at the waist. Gives me a silhouette that's to die for, which is a bonus! A bit more expensive at £50, I'd recommend paying that little bit more for your work clothes as its important you feel good in them. Linky!

Another gorgeous (but unironed) dress is this unique little red number. Its a perfect fit but a bit more structured than the other dresses, I plan on wearing it to the office with a beige/neutral blazer and nude pumps. An absolute steal at £30 in the sale, I can see me bringing this little number out of the wardrobe summer after summer. Linky!

 

Last but most definitely not least is this showstopping black and white stripe dress. I adore this dress - it fits me like a glove and makes me feel really... powerful? Power dressing is the way forward! It's made of a luscious light fabric so will be essential wear on those warm summer days when the Tube is crammed full of sweaty commuters! I think this will look so classy with a simple black blazer and courts. Again a bit pricier at £45 but I think this dress looks much more high end so its worth the initial investment! Linky!

Boots Haul: Ruby & Millie

I ordered lots of lovely make up goodies from Boots a few days ago and received my parcel this morning! As Ruby & Millie has been discontinued and obviously there is only limited stock available online and in stores, I thought it was quite important to share the R&M part of this haul with you asap! I'll be posting about the No 7 products shortly, so watch this space!

I bought these 3 eyeshadows from the R&M range - originally £11 each but I got them for £2.75. I love the packaging the R&M eye colours come in, I think its very sturdy but still stylish as each lid is hinged and twists around when you want to access the make up! I'll consider each shade in turn:

This is shade 'Yellow 210P'. I've done my best to swatch this colour but its not very highly pigmented at all. This is a useful colour as I don't have it in any of my palettes but its definitely going to be a shading colour and not a statement one - its too pale for anything else! Although I can see it being useful in a metallic or red/gold eye look. I wouldn't repurchase but for £2.75 I can't complain, you do get a lot of product for your money.

This colour is much better and versatile. It's shade 'Yellow 240P' but it's much more of a bronze/brown shade. I think I can integrate this shade into my everyday look as it gives a lovely subtle shimmer when applied. I am very happy with this colour.

This is the final eye colour, shade 'Purple 510P'. Again its not very highly pigmented but I think as a sheer/shimmer colour it will be useful to me as I often do purple eye looks, and this could function as a shade to use on my brow bone. The shimmer effect is very nice too, and overall I'm glad I purchased this as again, I don't have anything similar at the moment.

I also bought this R&M nail polish - its shade 'Orange 300C' and you get 9ml for £2.50 (previously £10.00). I haven't had the chance to try this colour yet but thought it would be worth posting a pic of the bottle as it might be more useful than the info given on the Boots website. I've read good things about R&M nail polish so I have high hopes for this summery shade!

I also bought the Ruby & Millie Eye Base '0' more out of curiosity than anything else! It was £2.75, originally £11.00 so quite a bargain! I was impressed by the nifty packaging and I liked the look of the brush/pen nib applicator. You twist the end of the pen to get the product to come out on the brush. I did this and then applied it to my forearm (btw that's not a bruise its just a speck on my window that created a shadow on my arm!). It came out quite an orangey colour which got a little better after I blended it for a while, but has dried quite orange still. I'm not sure why R&M would create an eye base that dries orange, as my E.L.F. eyelid primer is positively white/cream/nude, which is ideal. Either way I'm not keen on the result but will use it in my daily routine to see if it looks better on a made up face and if it makes a difference to my eye make up's longevity.

Just a quick little extra post as I am excited and wanted to share that with you all! Dotty P's!

First things first, I just want to say a massive WELCOME to my new followers, it's lovely to have you! Hope you enjoy my latest offering!


I popped into my local Dotty P's the other day after receiving an email from them about a store wide offer (up to 30% off)! I'd been perusing many websites in search of the perfect handbag to take travelling with me, and had seen a few contenders but I wanted to check them out in the flesh. Here are the fruits of my labour...

How cute is she?! Quick description as the photo is a bit dodgy: baby blue non-leather hobo bag, zip closing but with a magnetic closure on the front pocket (which will come in useful in European cities for things like sunnies and lipbalm I think!), zip compartment inside, & plaited strap. It's quite big too - just the right size for everyday travelling essentials but not too big for it to weigh me down. I'm delighted with it. It was £19.60 I think, originally more but had 30% off! Linky!

I also picked up this absolutely gorgeous scarf, initially for my friend's birthday but as soon as I 'tried it on' at home I knew it wasn't going to be a gift for her! Selfish I know... but I'm not much of a scarf person (except in winter, as having short hair can give you a chilly neck!) and I love the colours and pattern of this! I plan on taking it travelling with me in the hopes that I return a scarf person! Bargain with 30% off, I got it for £8. Linky!

Accidentally bought myself some new sunnies too! I was after some genuine Rayban Wayfarers but they're a little out of my budget after receiving an unexpected water bill... sad times. But these little beauties were only £8 so hardly breaking the bank, and come with this cute floral pouch too! Linky!

As soon as I saw this delightful belt knew it had to be mine! I managed to bag the last size small in the shop - score! I love the bold blue colour as I don't have that many non-neutral belts, which can get a little boring after a while. £6.40 Linky!

Tying in with the apparent blue theme of my shopping trip is this adorable little costume ring, a steal at £3! I don't have particularly big or fat fingers but for some reason always need to get a size medium or large in rings from high st stores.. Linky!

Finally, another piece of costume jewellery that I couldn't resist! How kitsch is this heart ring? It's really big on my finger which means I'll probably only wear it on special occasions or nights out, but for £3 I couldn't put it back on the shelf..! Linky!
