No7 Poppy King Lipgloss 'Glamour'

Hi guys! So today is another lip gloss review! After the last one I had a dig around in my make up collection and found a couple of lip glosses I'd never used before. Today is a Poppy King one from No7 at Boots.

I'm pretty sure I was bought this as a present either for Christmas or a birthday. I love the Poppy King packaging - the polka dots are super cute! It kind of reminds me of a more feminine version of the Topshop make up branding. As you can see, the shade I got was a bright pink one called 'Glamour'.

The applicator is nothing to write home about, just the regular lip gloss wand. The gloss itself is absolutely gorgeous though, much more subtle on the lip than it looks in the tube - it gives a nice deep pink colour which is quite natural and versatile. I like wearing this on hotter days when lipstick would just melt right off my lips! It can be a little bit sticky, but it doesn't dry out my lips at all so I don't mind too much.

Overall I really like this lip gloss but for £11 I had high expectations to start with! You can buy this No7 Poppy King Lipgloss in shade Glamour for £11 from Boots online HERE or in store.

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter

Jeez Louise, this product review has been a long time coming! I originally bought this product wayyy back when I was supposed to be on a spending ban I think in January or February? In the past year or so I have become increasingly interested in highlighters, contouring, and basically how make up can be used to enhance your natural face shape. Enter the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter..

Packaging wise - it's not bad. I prefer MUA's white products over the older products that come in black packaging but when it comes down to it you're paying less than £5 for something that comes in a plastic container, you're not going to be fussy right? But I do like this simple, plain packaging with the clear lid that lets the product do the talking. 

How pretty is this?! I have read a lot of other bloggers criticising MUA for copying MAC in the design of this highlighter - as someone who has never used a MAC product in their life I wouldn't know. All I do know is that this is a really pretty and gentle looking highlighter that I reckon most girls would struggle not to pop in their basket in Superdrug.

It's a very fine, powdered highlighter with glitter particles in it (as you can see below more clearly). It really is a beautiful product both in the pan and on the skin, and you don't have to use a lot to get a pretty nice definition on your face. However my main issue with this product is that it doesn't stick around long enough - after maybe four hours' wear it's all but disappeared from my face! This is the same problem I had with the highlighter which came in the MUA Artiste Palette (review HERE).

Overall I do really like this product, and it would have made it into my daily make up routine if it lasted a little bit longer! Perhaps I'm expecting too much for the price bracket, after all this does retail for a mere £3 but in my opinion this doesn't match up to the amazing quality of MUA's eyeshadows. Soap and Glory Bright Here Bright Now

Hi guys! So you will know by now that I am a big fan of Soap and Glory, especially the skincare offerings from the brand. Today's post is a review of Bright here Bright Now Instant Radiance Energy Balm. 

I picked this up as part of my crazy S&G haul way back in the January sales. I thought it would be a good option for days when I don't want to wear any make up but still want a healthy glow. As usual the packaging is spot on but this is something I take for granted from S&G (although I've seen the planned rebranding coming later this year and I don't think I like it!). I like the silver/red branding of the skincare products, as it's a little more accessible for pink haters like myself!

Onto the product itself, it's a light creamy balm which feels really inoffensive on the skin. It sinks in nicely but it does leave a filmy residue on the skin. The balm has tiny shimmer/glitter particles in it which I think is why it's branded as a 'radiance energy balm'. I found this a little disappointing if I'm honest, I had hoped that the radiance/brightening effect would be because of the ingredients in the product which would transform my skin, as opposed to some cheap shimmer effect.

I don't think this product makes any difference at all to my skin, it doesn't look any different. If I hadn't got this so cheap as part of a sale gift set I wouldn't be happy, as Bright Here Bright Now retails for £12. You can buy it online from Boots HERE or instore.

Barry M Lip Gloss - 5 Bubblegum Pink

Hi guys! Today I'm posting about a lip gloss, not something I often do on Bee's Knees as I'm not much of a lip gloss person. Unlike a lot of my friends I never had a lip gloss phase as a teenager, so I feel like a bit of a beginner.

If you're a follower of Bee's Knees you'll know I'm a complete fan girl when it comes to Barry M Nail Paints, and the Lip Paints are also pretty awesome. I picked the Lip Gloss up a while ago in shade Bubblegum Pink on a hot afternoon when it seemed like madness to wear lipstick!

Bubblegum Pink is the perfect summer shade, it's so girly and pretty and easy to wear with just about everything! Obviously with lip gloss you're never going to get the same colour payoff as with a lipstick or lip stain, but this is just the right amount for a subtle day look. 

The gloss isn't too sticky and tacky on the lips, which is good because that drives me insane! You obviously need to reapply throughout the day but if the gloss does wear off it's not noticeable at all. I don't think I'll pick up any other shades because I much prefer lipsticks but this is a nice one to have in my collection, especially in the summer months!

Impromptu Superdrug Haul - feat Sleek,and Revlon

Hi guys! Today's post is about a few products I picked up on an impromptu trip to Superdrug a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't having the best day and I needed a lunchtime pick-me-up so I headed straight for the make up aisle...

I had my eye on the Sleek Face Form palette for a month or so before I caved and bought it - it's one of those beautiful products that looks amazing on blogs and even better in real life! I also picked up one of the new Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipsticks, and a Super Lustrous Liptick too (hooray for 3 for the price of 2 offers!)

The colours I picked up from Revlon were Designer and Lovers Coral. I had my eye on Designer from the first time I saw the new Colorstay Ultimate Suede collection, it's a pretty coral/red shade that just stands out from the rest. Lover's Coral is a subtle pink that looks amazing swatched so I'm excited to try it on the lips!

This is the Sleek palette - untouched and absolutely stunning. You get a bronzer (probably too dark for me), a highlighter (which looks amazing) and the best part - the beautiful rose gold shimmer blush. It's apparently a dupe for Nars Orgasm and I love it! So excited to try this.

Tuesday Tales #9 - Gentlemen of the Road

Hi everyone! If you follow me on Twitter then you might have seen some of the photos I posted over the weekend. On Saturday Neil and I pottered along to Summer Stampede 2013 / Mumford & Son's Gentlemen of the Road tour at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. As it turned out, it was one of the best days of the year so far because the weather was definitely on our side and it was a scorcher! I thought it would be nice to share some of the day with you on here..

It was a bit of a pilgrimage to get there - the venue was next to the Olympic arena in Stratford which is quite a trek from where I live, plus a 45 minute walk from the tube station to the park! I had pretty achey feet when we eventually got there, but thank goodness the beautiful sun was out and put everyone in good spirits.

The event itself was part of the Mumford and Sons UK tour but it was much more like a one day festival once we were there. Acts included Haim, Ben Howard, and Vampire Weekend but it was so much more than just the music - the site was fantastically designed and strolling around in the sunshine was a great way to pass the time in between music.

I was over the moon when I spotted the Vegan & Veggie van - as a seasoned festival-goer from the age of 11, the veggie burgers from this particular van have been the highlight of many music events so to be able to have one (*cough* two) to munch on made my day!

We spent a lot of time relaxing in what shade we could find - it was around 30 degrees for most of the afternoon and even the most dedicated sun worshippers were desperately seeking shade!

After all the walking we'd done I was really glad I'd made the decision to pop on my old faithful Peacocks shoes instead of the Primark sandals I'd originally planned to wear. I really like my electric blue toes!

We saw Ben Howard and Vampire Weekend (photographed) in the afternoon and both were brilliant. The vibe during Vampire Weekend was the best though, their music really is made for sunny afternoons spent in fields!

Of course Mumford & Sons were the icing on the cake - their set was incredible (with a couple of mood killing songs but we can forgive them for being self indulgent - I think they earned it!) I am a massive Mumford & Sons fan anyway but even Neil who doesn't particularly like them enjoyed the set and the atmosphere was so electric. When they got all the acts from the day back on stage at the end to do Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' I think I died and went to music heaven. Fleetwood Mac are one of my favourite bands and that is one of my favourite festival moments of all time!

It took us a whopping 2 hours to get back home after the end of the day but it was well worth the travelling time. I showered as soon as I got in and no kidding, the water was brown. Gross! Obviously the fact that Andy Murray went on to win Wimbledon on Sunday topped off my weekend as well! I hope you had a cracking time too, whatever you got up to!

Oh gosh. So I knew halfway through the week that this was going to be a 'splurge' kind of week - the random visit to Boots and spends on Soap and Glory skincare was the beginning of the end really! I had two days of training at work this week which kind of put me in the mood for spending, summer and being frivalous. So shoot me. I'm hoping things pick up a bit this week as I am getting hideously close to not being able to afford some of the things we need to get when we move out. I just need to keep reminding myself that spending now has a direct impact on how much I can spend on things for the new house... wish me luck!
