My New Work Winter Coat

If you're a long time reader, you'll know that I have a little bit of a coat addiction... but I managed to clear out 4 of my old winter coats that I either wasn't wearing at all anymore or that had been worn to death. I found this as good a reason as any to invest in a nice new winter coat, but one that is suitable for wearing to work. I looked everywhere before finally deciding to invest in this one:

It was originally £92 from Debenhams. I really liked the monochrome chic polka dots - I think it adds a bit of personality whilst keeping it appropriate if I have to go to a client meeting out of the office. I originally bought it when Debenhams were having one of their 20% off events, but actually ended up sending it back and reordering it a couple of weeks later as it went into the sale and I eventually bagged it for a bargainous £40! I was really happy with the saving, as its such a good fit for me and feels such good quality I probably would have been fine paying full price!

I Want Never Gets... Stella McCartney

As someone who is about to start work in a very professional and well-to-do career (I start work as a trainee solicitor on Monday, eek!), I'm well aware that appearances in the workplace make all the difference. Especially in a male-dominated work environment, us girls have to work hard to ensure we're dressed in the smartest, most appropriate way without sacrificing our personalities, whilst maintaining decorum and avoiding appearing slutty and show boating. Sounds like hard work! It is, unless you're lucky enough to be able to afford any of Stella McCartney's classically tailored collection.

This silk-satin blouse is so effortlessly chic, its beautiful. The colour is divine, the fit is perfect and the necklice remains appropriate for the workplace. £395 Linky!

As the days continue to fly by and autumn is increasingly closer, I am become more and more obsessed with winter wear, coats especially! This incredible masculine coat radiates style without being too garish and would be an ideal addition to any professional girl's wardrobe. £895 Linky!

Another gorgeous blouse here; I especially love the added twist of the merlot cuffs to what would have otherwise been a fairly standard, but most certainly elegent, white shirt. £435 Linky!

Finally, this blazer is the icing on the proverbial cake. It takes a slight risk by mixing navy with black but easily succeeds. I adore the tuxedo style of this jacket, it reminds me of my Reiss black suit jacket that is a similar fit only slightly shorter (my one show stopping piece in my work wardrobe, bought in the sale of course). £1,175 Linky!

I work hard, every day of my life..

I've bought a few bits and pieces for my ever-expanding work wardrobe recently. Enjoy!

First up is this cute cream pussybow blouse from ASOS. I've been after a short sleeved neutral blouse for a while as I have a few patterned suits and skirts that I can't wear patterned tops with - this one fit the bill perfectly and luckily flatters my usually difficult shape! Bonus that its 100% cotton! I got it on offer for £20. Linky!

 

I love this quirky apple print blouse by Mango! The pattern is quite unique and it looks great tucked into a pencil skirt or over some wide leg or cigarette trousers. Simple way to inject a bit of my personality into my workwear! It was a little more expensive, but I managed to get some pennies off and bought it for £31 from ASOS. Linky!

Last but not least is this cute little red linen pencil skirt. I loved the way the model on the ASOS website teamed this with a simple white blouse and black court shoes - very chic, I hope to replicate the look! I was tempted to buy this skirt in other colours because it fit so nicely, most notably 'Pecan', but I managed to restrain myself! I got it for £22. Linky!

Working nine to five, what a way to make a living...

As promised, here are the bits and pieces I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Dorothy Perkins for my work wardrobe. I've been very busy recently so it's taking a while for me to get around to posting about things, but I'm getting there eventually!

First up is this gorgeous 50s style linen skirt. The photo doesn't do this justice at all (plus I'm not much of an ironing person, so it's a little creased from being transported!).. but it's a lovely fit and hangs beautifully. Perfect for tucking a cute blouse into and wearing with some classic courts. £23. Linky!

 

A cute blouse like this one perhaps! I think this sold out super fast on the website as I can't get a link to it - sadface. But it was an absolute bargain at £15 in the sale. I love the adorable pussybow and the colour is divine - wearable in summer and also to spice up an otherwise dull winter look I think!

 

I LOVE this dress. Again, the photo doesn't do it justice but it's fitted like a shift dress at the top and then has lots of material that flares out at the waist. Gives me a silhouette that's to die for, which is a bonus! A bit more expensive at £50, I'd recommend paying that little bit more for your work clothes as its important you feel good in them. Linky!

Another gorgeous (but unironed) dress is this unique little red number. Its a perfect fit but a bit more structured than the other dresses, I plan on wearing it to the office with a beige/neutral blazer and nude pumps. An absolute steal at £30 in the sale, I can see me bringing this little number out of the wardrobe summer after summer. Linky!

 

Last but most definitely not least is this showstopping black and white stripe dress. I adore this dress - it fits me like a glove and makes me feel really... powerful? Power dressing is the way forward! It's made of a luscious light fabric so will be essential wear on those warm summer days when the Tube is crammed full of sweaty commuters! I think this will look so classy with a simple black blazer and courts. Again a bit pricier at £45 but I think this dress looks much more high end so its worth the initial investment! Linky!
