The art of forward planning

It's no longer available to buy in stores, and so I don't have a link, but I've been so excited about winter coming I really wanted to share it with you:
This is my new winter coat! I bought it from Dorothy Perkins in the January sales for £20! Bargain of the century! I've been lusting after duffel coats for years but never saw one that was perfect/I could afford, until this one! I don't generally 'do' coats with hoods but I'm super happy this one has one, and I think the faux fur and little pom poms are so cute and quirky! And the icing on the cake - it's a size 6! Amazing! Ego boost every time I put it on!
Have you bought yourself a new winter coat yet this year?

Well it's only for the bits & pieces

I've just moved flats and started a new job, which means I've had to cough up money for a new deposit and advance rent before I've even gotten my deposit back from my old place or received my first pay check! Long story short - I'm skint. And so I've not been doing as much shopping of late, however here are a couple of things I picked up recently:
I adore these cute high waisted blue shorts! They were ~£6 from Miss Selfridge in the sale, I can't find a link on the website but they are very similar to these just in a darker colour. I've already worn these loads, and they look great on a night out if you're going to an indie or rock club! Unfortunately I'm not so handy with an iron so they look a bit ridiculous all creased etc, but they're divine on! Buying these was one of those lovely moments when you take a sale item to the till and it ends up being considerably less than you'd expected! Does shopping get any better than that?!
This cute peach polka dot blouse was originally bought to form part of my work wardrobe, but I have found myself wearing it casually with high waisted jeans or a skirt - its just so versatile! Plus it has a pussy bow, making it bang on trend for AW11. I'm very pleased with this little bargain, only £13 from Dorothy PerkinsLinky!

Working nine to five, what a way to make a living...

As promised, here are the bits and pieces I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Dorothy Perkins for my work wardrobe. I've been very busy recently so it's taking a while for me to get around to posting about things, but I'm getting there eventually!
First up is this gorgeous 50s style linen skirt. The photo doesn't do this justice at all (plus I'm not much of an ironing person, so it's a little creased from being transported!).. but it's a lovely fit and hangs beautifully. Perfect for tucking a cute blouse into and wearing with some classic courts. £23. Linky!

A cute blouse like this one perhaps! I think this sold out super fast on the website as I can't get a link to it - sadface. But it was an absolute bargain at £15 in the sale. I love the adorable pussybow and the colour is divine - wearable in summer and also to spice up an otherwise dull winter look I think!

I LOVE this dress. Again, the photo doesn't do it justice but it's fitted like a shift dress at the top and then has lots of material that flares out at the waist. Gives me a silhouette that's to die for, which is a bonus! A bit more expensive at £50, I'd recommend paying that little bit more for your work clothes as its important you feel good in them. Linky!
Another gorgeous (but unironed) dress is this unique little red number. Its a perfect fit but a bit more structured than the other dresses, I plan on wearing it to the office with a beige/neutral blazer and nude pumps. An absolute steal at £30 in the sale, I can see me bringing this little number out of the wardrobe summer after summer. Linky!

Last but most definitely not least is this showstopping black and white stripe dress. I adore this dress - it fits me like a glove and makes me feel really... powerful? Power dressing is the way forward! It's made of a luscious light fabric so will be essential wear on those warm summer days when the Tube is crammed full of sweaty commuters! I think this will look so classy with a simple black blazer and courts. Again a bit pricier at £45 but I think this dress looks much more high end so its worth the initial investment! Linky!

Where are your favourite places to shop for workwear? Do you have separate summer and winter wardrobes?

Dotty P's!

First things first, I just want to say a massive WELCOME to my new followers, it's lovely to have you! Hope you enjoy my latest offering!

I popped into my local Dotty P's the other day after receiving an email from them about a store wide offer (up to 30% off)! I'd been perusing many websites in search of the perfect handbag to take travelling with me, and had seen a few contenders but I wanted to check them out in the flesh. Here are the fruits of my labour...
How cute is she?! Quick description as the photo is a bit dodgy: baby blue non-leather hobo bag, zip closing but with a magnetic closure on the front pocket (which will come in useful in European cities for things like sunnies and lipbalm I think!), zip compartment inside, & plaited strap. It's quite big too - just the right size for everyday travelling essentials but not too big for it to weigh me down. I'm delighted with it. It was £19.60 I think, originally more but had 30% off! Linky!
I also picked up this absolutely gorgeous scarf, initially for my friend's birthday but as soon as I 'tried it on' at home I knew it wasn't going to be a gift for her! Selfish I know... but I'm not much of a scarf person (except in winter, as having short hair can give you a chilly neck!) and I love the colours and pattern of this! I plan on taking it travelling with me in the hopes that I return a scarf person! Bargain with 30% off, I got it for £8. Linky!
Accidentally bought myself some new sunnies too! I was after some genuine Rayban Wayfarers but they're a little out of my budget after receiving an unexpected water bill... sad times. But these little beauties were only £8 so hardly breaking the bank, and come with this cute floral pouch too! Linky!
As soon as I saw this delightful belt knew it had to be mine! I managed to bag the last size small in the shop - score! I love the bold blue colour as I don't have that many non-neutral belts, which can get a little boring after a while. £6.40 Linky!
Tying in with the apparent blue theme of my shopping trip is this adorable little costume ring, a steal at £3! I don't have particularly big or fat fingers but for some reason always need to get a size medium or large in rings from high st stores.. Linky!
Finally, another piece of costume jewellery that I couldn't resist! How kitsch is this heart ring? It's really big on my finger which means I'll probably only wear it on special occasions or nights out, but for £3 I couldn't put it back on the shelf..! Linky!

Have you done any accidental impulse buying recently? What's been your best bargain?

Pull your skirt up

I did a mega order from Dorothy Perkins last week, as they had 25% off everything online! I bought a few bits for my work wardrobe that I'll post about soon, but just wanted to quickly show you two cute skirts I also got for casual wear!
This lovely butterfly print 50s style skirt was only £17 in the sale, and then I got an extra 25% off! Absolute bargain as I love the print and the different pastels that you can pick out. I've already worn this with a nude vest and my trusty rust blazer, plus my tan cork wedges. Perfect for Spring evening drinks. Linky!

I also got this green poppy print skirt in the same design for the same price. I absolutely adore the 50s and I'm really taking advantage of 50s style skirts and dresses being everywhere on the high street at the moment! I wore this out with my white sleeveless blouse that I got from Peacocks a few weeks ago, and a nude cardigan. Linky!
I love the way the material hangs, but I don't recommend wearing it out on a windy day like I did! Needless to say I had a fair few 'Marilyn' moments, but I was wearing nice knickers so no problem!
What's your favourite era for fashion? Have you made any 50s inspired purchases recently?

Dorothy Perkins freebies, Glamour & free Clinique lipstick!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I hate those tedious first blog posts, so I'll delve straight in to the juicy stuff...

I received an order from Dorothy Perkins today, after only placing it a few days ago! Very impressed with the quick delivery, but what really put a smile on my face was the FREE AVON GOODIES I received alongside my items! I appear to be ignorant to whatever offer is going on at the moment, but I received an Avon Super Shock mascara, an Ultra Colour Rich lipstick in red kiss, and a Magix Face Perfector for free! I will be testing them all and reporting back on how I find them soon!
In other news..
I bought the April issue of Glamour magazine on Friday to read on the way to a friend's wedding at the weekend. Part of the reason I bought it was the FREE Clinique High Impact lip colour spf 15! As a vegan I'm ultra careful and cautious about buying from brands I don't already use, but I googled around and discovered Clinique is a non-animal testing company so I was happy to get the lipstick with my Glamour!
I tried it on Friday night and thought it went on very nicely, and it didn't seem to dry my lips out at all. The colour was a really goregeous deep red, which coincidentally totally coordinated with my planned outfit for the wedding! I stuck to simple lipgloss for the day service (Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker, watch this space for a review!) but whacked on the new lippy for the evening reception.

The colour lasted quite well, but I wasn't eating any food, just drinking from a glass with a straw so couldn't test its durability whilst eating. I also can't comment on the kiss factor of the lipstick, as I am a single gal and wasn't swept off my feet by any gentlemen that evening either! However the colour did seem to last throughout the night and my lips felt a lot more moisturised than they do when I'm wearing other lipsticks. I only reapplied once in the evening too!
All in all I'd recommend the lipstick to those who have a bit of a bigger budget and are looking for a good quality lippy with a nice colour and lasting moisturisation. I'm not sure if I'd buy it again (not that I bought it in the first place, but you catch my drift!) as I don't tend to purchase the more high end make up, but I guess we'll have to wait and see! I'd certainly encourage you to go grab a copy of Glamour so you can try it for yourself though, it's only £2 and the magazine itself is rather good too!
