Fabulous Nails #45 - potential Nails Inc Baker Street dupe!

Hi guys! Today's nail look is one I've been dying to post about for weeks! I'm sure you'll have seen and heard of the gorgeous Nails Inc Baker Street polish - it's an electric blue that's to die for. But what if I said I'd found a £5 dupe...?

This Topshop Nails is in the shade Varsity, and after comparing it to Nails Inc Baker Street in a Boots store I have to say it's a pretty close match in the bottle! Obviously I don't own Baker Street so I can't compare the two side by side on the nails, but it's close enough to justify spending £5 on this little gem!

It's already one of my favourite nail varnishes - not only is it a stunning colour but the formula applies really nicely as well and stays chip free for long enough to keep me happy! Overall I'm really pleased with this polish and would urge you to give it a try too if you're looking for a stand-out blue to add to your collection.

Fabulous Nails #30

I can't believe it's Thursday already, this week is flying by! I am happily settling in to my new department at work and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself - long may it continue! I am also loving the sunshine and milder weather conditions, it really feels like Spring is just around the corner! If you're a long time follower of Bee's Knees you might know that my no. 1 nail varnish brand is Barry M, but I have been experimenting with Revlon and loving them (read about my all time favourite red nail varnish HERE) and also Models Own. Today's nails are a blend of Barry M and Models Own!

I love this nail look - I bought the Models Own Freak Out when it was on offer at Boots (buy one get one half price - I also got Snowflakes) but wasn't sure how to wear it. I decided to pick out the blue rather than the pink holographic pieces using the base colour and I really like the result!

I used Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blue Plum as the base colour - I do like the Gelly polishes but I'm not entirely sure why they're priced £1 above the usual Barry M nail paints.. they are a bit thicker but don't last particularly long on me.

Overall I was super happy with this Models Own polish - it's so different and unlike everything I've ever seen before or owned. I think it could be pretty versatile too, pairing it with a lighter blue would make it bang on trend for S/S13!

You can buy Models Own polishes from Boots  (currently 2 for £8) or on their website for £5. Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes retail from £3.99 and can be bought most places, including Boots  (save £1 when you buy two at the moment!) and online.

Fabulous Nails #27

Second post of the day! If you haven't had a peep at this morning's Spendthrift Saturday post featuring discount for Urban Outfitters, Joules, Warehouse, Oasis and Matalan make sure you check it out! But this evening I thought I would share one of my favourite nail looks using the Lush Lacquer Festival of Lights. My previous post on this range can be found HERE.

Although I bought my Lush Lacquers ages ago, I've only just got around to posting about some of them, sorry!

I used this ridiculously old Rimmel I <3 Lasting Finish in Azure as a base (2 coats) - seriously, I think I've owned this one for about 8 years! & then I added Festival of Lights:

Festival of Lights isn't the easiest polish to apply. It's really difficult to get an even spread of the tiny white and blue dots and lines across your nails. There are also square pieces of blue and silver stars in the bottle, but these seem too heavy and sink to the bottom so they're impossible to get onto the brush! I did get quite frustrated applying this as I think that the ladies at LL should have forseen the problem with the larger pieces and come up with a solution, rather than making a polish with pretty things that you'll never be able to put on your nails!

As I've said before, removing Lush Lacquers is a nightmare and the only big downside of these polishes. But overall this lasted well and it gives such a unique finish that I don't regret buying it.
