Barry M Lip Gloss - 5 Bubblegum Pink

Hi guys! Today I'm posting about a lip gloss, not something I often do on Bee's Knees as I'm not much of a lip gloss person. Unlike a lot of my friends I never had a lip gloss phase as a teenager, so I feel like a bit of a beginner.

If you're a follower of Bee's Knees you'll know I'm a complete fan girl when it comes to Barry M Nail Paints, and the Lip Paints are also pretty awesome. I picked the Lip Gloss up a while ago in shade Bubblegum Pink on a hot afternoon when it seemed like madness to wear lipstick!

Bubblegum Pink is the perfect summer shade, it's so girly and pretty and easy to wear with just about everything! Obviously with lip gloss you're never going to get the same colour payoff as with a lipstick or lip stain, but this is just the right amount for a subtle day look.

The gloss isn't too sticky and tacky on the lips, which is good because that drives me insane! You obviously need to reapply throughout the day but if the gloss does wear off it's not noticeable at all. I don't think I'll pick up any other shades because I much prefer lipsticks but this is a nice one to have in my collection, especially in the summer months!

Barry M Lip Glosses are £4.49 each available from Boots online HERE or instore.

Fabulous Nails #31 - Barry M Textured Nail Paint

If you read my Collective Haul post earlier in the week (if not see HERE), you will know I picked up the Barry M textured nail paint in shade Atlantic Road. I was ever so keen to try it out and see what the hype was all about!

I have to say outright, this is not going to be a positive post. Although the colour in the bottle is absolutely divine, I found this polish a bit of a pain to apply evenly to my nails (especially to the sides of my nails without getting it all over my skin)..

This is with two coats - quite an opaque coverage but you can see some patches that could have done with a third coat.

The next thing I didn't like about this polish is the texture - I know, I know what did I expect, it's textured nail polish that's kind of the point! But I really wasn't prepared for how coarse and nasty this would feel on my nails - I just didn't like it! The final straw came when it chipped in 4 different places after less than 24 hours.

So overall I'm quite clearly not impressed! If you would like to try this out for yourself, I am selling this for £3.20 so please leave a comment with your email address so I can invoice you (P&P included, PayPal only, first come first served). I know it wasn't my cup of tea but a lot of other bloggers have raved about this so you have every right to decide for yourself.

Have you tried the Barry M textured nail paint? What did you think?

Just because I'm losing, doesn't mean I'm lost

As I was sorting through my stuff and packing ready to move flats, I came across this:
(if you follow me on Twitter you'll already know)
My Barry M Lip Lacquer Crayon in shade no.3 'Mandarin'! Now I bought this way back before the summer, when I bought the crayon in another colour too (click here to read review), but after only a day of ownership it disappeared and I couldn't find it! I'm overjoyed to have reclaimed it as I love the other crayon I have but it's not a colour I wear very often. Red, on the other hand, I LOVE wearing!
This is an absolutely delightful product - I am smitten! The red is very bright - almost pillarbox (which doesn't show well in the photos for whatever reason) and has tiny bits of glitter in it. I adore the colour, but on top of that it's also super easy to apply due to the design, and it doesn't dehydrate lips but has great staying power! All in all, it's everything you'd want from a lip colour, and it comes in a cute, easy-to-fit-into-even-the-tiniest-clutch crayon! £4.99 Linky!

Barry M Lipstick Haul

To continue along the theme of last week's post on E.L.F. lipsticks, I thought I'd do a post on my collection from Barry M. I've mentioned a couple of these lipsticks in separate posts before but I think it'll be useful to have them all in one place.
First is the Barry M 'Lip Lacquer Crayon' in shade No.1. This is my single most favourite lip colour to wear on a night out - its so highly pigmented, shimmery and bright its perfect. It stays on for a good 4-5 hours without reapplication, doesn't dry out the lips and is nice and small to fit in your clutch.
When the colour starts to run out on this crayon you simply sharpen it with an eyeliner sharpener and... voila! Fresh colour to use! It's ridiculously good value for money as I've not had to sharpen mine yet and have used it quite a bit since buying it a few months ago. £4.99 from BootsLinky!
I also have 4 'Lip Paints' by Barry M. From left -> right shades 53, 121, 150 & 152.
Here are the lipsticks swatched in the same order. I find these Lip Paints SO GOOD for their high pigmentation, and shade 121 is my all time favourite pillar box red lipstick. I call it my 'Blondie' lipstick, for obvious reasons! However I have to say, I do find these lipsticks dry out my lips quite a bit and so as a result I have to reapply with a layer of lipbalm and then lip colour on top quite frequently, maybe every 1-2 hours depending on the colour. Shades 53 and 150 are brilliant to wear for the daytime though, and I love how subtle they are against my pale skin!
Barry M Lip Paints are £4.49 from BootsLinky!
