Sock it to me!

As the nights are drawing in (i.e. its dark at 4pm - hmph!) and the winter season is here to stay, I thought I would do a post on my all time FAVOURITE accessory of A/W - the sock. Now, most people don't give much thought to their socks; these people are silly. Socks are where it's AT! Now let me show you my latest foot-oriented purchases..
This pack of grey and black knee-high socks was a bargain from H&M at only £6.99. They're lovely and soft and will keep my toes nice and toasty! I like wearing knee high socks with knee high boots - just slightly longer than the height of the boot so you can see them - with tights & shorts or a skirt. It's a simple way to stay warm but still manage to have your legs out!
I couldn't believe it when I saw these over the knee socks from New Look for only £2.50! So cheap! They do them in all sorts of colours too. Linky! I wear over the knee socks with 10 denier grey or black tights and a short skirt or shorts, usually with brogues or something similar.
I bought these cute little ankle socks from Dorothy Perkins - 3 for £6! I really like the colours I chose but there are plenty of others available too. I think ankle socks look cute rolled down with brogues or ankle boots and opaque tights and a tea dress. Linky!
So there you have it - I'm a total sock addict! Hope this post has made you think more carefully about what you put your tootsies in on a cold winter morning!

I Want Never Gets... Coats

Now that the A/W11 trends are dominating fashion magazines and blogs, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you some of my favourite winter coats from the high street. I LOVE winter, there's something just so wonderful about layering up chunky knits, belted warm coats and a quirky woolly hat!
First up is this simple, classic black coat with the interesting addition of a double collar. I have a bit of a thing for belted coats (having boobs means unless you have a belt to pull you in, you end up looking like you're wearing a sack), and I think this one would be a perfect work coat - you could easily add colourful scarves and gloves to bring a bit of personality to it. £100 from Warehouse Linky!
Again with a belt, this double breasted flared dress is adorable (and so is the model!). I think its a really great colour to go for if you're bored of black coats, and will look cute worn over most things due to the flared skirt. £120 from ASOS Linky!
A little less conventional is this heritage coat. I love the tweed-style fabric and the two toned arm and back of the coat. Admittedly I wouldn't be able to wear this to work, but as a weekend coat it would work well over most clothes. If only I could afford to have a weekend winter coat... sigh. £100 from ASOS Linky!
My favourite of all is this absolutely divine drape coat from Oasis. I can't put into words how much I want this coat! It definitely doesn't look like a high street coat, and has the makings of much higher end outerwear! I'm hoping I'll be able to save up for this beauty before it sells out (increasingly unlikely due to moving house and having to pay 1,000 years of rent up front!) £95 from Oasis Linky!
When do you think is early enough to invest in winter wear without it being too early?

I Want Never Gets... Trousers

I've seen some gorgeous trousers/jeans on ASOS lately that I'd personally never have either the legs or the confidence to pull off, but I will happily share my lustings with you!
These cropped light wash denim skinnies are so cute and incredibly flattering on the model, but I can't help but think they'd make me look less than attractive. Still, I'd love to wear them with a band tee or long vest and faux leather jacket on colder summer nights. £30 from ASOSLinky!
These simple black palazzo pants are so chic, but I just don't have the height or the right body shape to be able to pull off this look. A shame really, as at £40 these trousers are definitely an affordable wardrobe staple for A/W11. Linky!
& last but most certainly not least are these incredibly wet look leopard print leggings. I can't put into words how much I adore these - they're so rock chick! I'd love to have the confidence to wear these (and the slim thighs) but unfortunately I just can't see myself ever daring to wear them out! And at £40 they're a little to expensive to just wear around the house. Sigh. Linky!
