SAVE don't SPEND #20

Welcome to another installment of my spending diary. On weeks like this one (i.e. where I spend a small fortune) I wish I wasn't keeping a spending diary because it would be much easier to just forget it ever happened, but it's good to keep an eye on just how much over my budget I'm going (this week, double my budget...) so I can make sure I make it up in the future..

Monday
4.45 - lunch
£4.45 - total

Tuesday
12.00 - taxi
£12.00 - total

Wednesday
4.45 - lunch
4.72 - food shop
55 - train tickets and admission tickets to Windsor Castle (for the weekend)
£64.17 - total

Thursday
8.50 - Boots No7 splurge
10 - lunch
£18.50 - total

Friday
NOTHING
£0.00 - total

Saturday
11.50 - Asda
5.50 - Starbucks
29.76 - Boots splurge
£46.76 - total

Sunday
10.00 - Nandos
8.50 - vegan cupcakes
£18.50 - total

TOTAL: £164.38

EEK that's a lot of money! I knew this week was going to be an expensive one because I had my Mum staying over the weekend and we went to Windsor for the day on Saturday, which cost quite a lot in train tickets and paying to get into the castle. We had a lovely time though, and the weather was scorching! I'm trying to make the most of every weekend I have left in London before moving (on the 7th of August - so soon!)

SAVE don't SPEND #19

Hi guys! Another week, another installment of my spending diary! Time seems to be flying by at the moment which is somewhat bittersweet considering my big move to Leeds is now less than a month away.. I am feeling ever so nostalgic about leaving London behind but ridiculously excited to start over in Leeds with all my family nearby!

Monday
9.10 - Boots (toothpaste(!) and water)
£9.10 - total

Tuesday
6.00 - lunch
£6.00 - total

Wednesday
4.95 - lunch
£4.95 - total

Thursday
24.00 - Boots skincare splurge
18.00 - cinema ticket and munchies
4.00 - post-cinema food
£44.00 - total

Friday
20.00 - healthstore splurge
5.00 - Starbucks
£25.00 - total

Saturday
20.00 - food and drink at Summer Stampede
£20.00 - total

Sunday
10.00 - July Birchbox (free shipping woop!)
£10.00 - total

TOTAL: £119.05

Oh gosh. So I knew halfway through the week that this was going to be a 'splurge' kind of week - the random visit to Boots and spends on Soap and Glory skincare was the beginning of the end really! I had two days of training at work this week which kind of put me in the mood for spending, summer and being frivalous. So shoot me. I'm hoping things pick up a bit this week as I am getting hideously close to not being able to afford some of the things we need to get when we move out. I just need to keep reminding myself that spending now has a direct impact on how much I can spend on things for the new house... wish me luck!

SAVE don't SPEND #18

Hi guys. Well things have been a little crazy for me lately. The past few weeks have been so busy I haven't had time to think, never mind blog! I'm hoping to keep on top of things more from now on though, so fingers crossed I won't have to miss any more weeks of blogging.

Monday
4.95 - lunch
£4.95 - total

Tuesday
13.00 - lunch at Pizza Express
£13.00 - total

Wednesday
4.45 - lunch
£4.45 - total

Thursday
12.00 - lunch at Wagamamas (yum!)
25.00 - birthday presents for a friend
4.00 - scented candle from House of Fraser
£41.00 - total

Friday
NOTHING
£0.00 - total

Saturday
53.17 - massive Sainsburys food shop
£53.17 - total

Sunday
0.00 - NOTHING!
£0.00 - total

TOTAL: £116.57

I'm quite happy with my spends this week. Although it's over my £80/week budget it's for a couple of good reasons - first I've been having expensive 'goodbye' lunches out with work colleagues which has increased my expenses, second it was my friend's birthday so I had to get her presents, and third I did a huge Sainsburys shop on Saturday and stocked up on enough food to last me a couple of weeks! Overall I didn't buy anything 'naughty' and everything was sensible. I think this week will be less because I have training at work all day on Thursday and Friday which includes lunch - kaching! I'm proud of myself for resisting a few unnecessary purchases this week - there was a beauty box I had my eye on that I didn't buy and also a highlighter I wanted. I'm finding it easier to spend less/nothing on beauty things when I'm not on an official 'spending ban' - how bizarre!

I should also point out that my spending diary doesn't include money I'm spending on furniture for the new house, as that's coming out of my savings (SOB). Once we're moved in I'm planning a whole post dedicated to my bargain furniture finds!

SAVE don't SPEND #17

Hi guys. Apologies for the lack of a SAVE don't SPEND update last week - I've been really busy with work and life in general lately so I didn't have time to post my spending diary. If you're interested, I will be posting a little life update tomorrow for the Tuesday Tales post, so keep an eye out!

£5.89 - total

Thursday

Having the big move in the summer feels like a fresh start for me and I am determined to reduce my debts as much as possible beforehand. Long may it continue!

SAVE don't SPEND #16

Hi everyone! So last week was a pretty good one for me spending-wise, that is until my best friend from Uni came to stay on Friday night and we got takeaway, then went to Nandos at Westfield on Saturday and spend a lot of unnecessary pennies! I didn't go too crazy but it has made me way over budget this week, again. SIGH.

Monday
1.09 - Boots
£1.09 - total

Tuesday
3.20 - Holland and Barrett tea shop
£3.20 - total

Wednesday
25.98 - Boots (present for Neil and Sally Hansen top coat)
3.50 - Hotel Chocolat treat for myself
£29.48 - total

Thursday
4.95 - lunch
£4.95 - total

Friday
10.00 - takeaway with my best friend
8.00 - Asda food shop
£18.00 - total

Saturday
2.50 - Kiko cosmetics (nail polish)
36.00 - Primark
6.50 - Forever 21
29.00 - Marks and Spencer (boring tights and underwear - yawn)
10.00 - Nandos lunch
£39.00 - total
£45.00 - naughty total

Sunday
0.00 - NOTHING!
£0.00 - total

TOTAL: £95.72
NAUGHTY TOTAL: £45.00

Yep, I was expecting that. I don't think I did too badly with the regular spending, only £15 over budget which is clearly down to yet another M&S undies shop (I've started to invest in nice undies in anticipation of moving in with the boyfriend in the summer - TMI sorry!) The naughty spends were completely unnecessary but I did get some real bargains that you'll be seeing in a haul post soon. Overall not terrible, but I do need to get a handle on my naughty spends. If I carry on like this I am not going to be able to afford to move!

SAVE don't SPEND #15

Hi guys, another Monday another installment of my spending diary. I hope wherever you are you've had a lovely weekend, and if you're in the UK you've managed to make the most of the bank holiday weekend! My plans for today involve lazing around in the sunshine and a quick trip to the supermarket - rock and roll.

Monday
12.00 -  Boots (who knew stamps were so expensive?!)
£12.00 - total

Tuesday
2.50 - Marks and Spencer
£2.50 - total

Wednesday
6.90 - lunch
£6.90 - total

Thursday
4.95 - lunch
£4.95 - total

Friday
NOTHING
£0.00 - total

Saturday
20.00 - Topshop (denim skater skirt)
15.00 - Marks and Spencer (boring underwear - yawn)
15.27 - Whole Foods
£30.27 - total
£20.00 - naughty total

Sunday
24.00 - Primark
17.45 - Muji
£17.45 - total
£24.00 - naughty total

TOTAL: £74.07
NAUGHTY TOTAL: £44.00

FINALLY! I'm under my £80/week budget for normal spends, hooray! I'm so happy this week I'm under my limit, despite the £44 of naughty spends on a skirt and some summery shoes (2 pairs, in both colours of course...!) They were technically unnecessary spends but I'm in the midst of a crazy clear out which will eventually involve flogging most of my unwanted stuff on eBay (again..) so I am trying not to feel too guilty. Plus the shoes I originally wanted were £40 so getting two pairs of shoes and a skirt for just over that amount is pretty nifty! I'm hoping to continue my winning streak and take my own lunch to work this week. Wish me luck!

SAVE don't SPEND #14

Hi everyone! I haven't quite had the spends-free week I had hoped for - le sigh. I need to start saving money soon otherwise I won't be able to do some of the exciting things I have planned for the rest of the year!

Monday
NOTHING
£0.00 - total

Tuesday
4.95 - lunch
1.12 - Boots
£6.07 - total

Wednesday
4.95 - lunch
4.50 - Holland & Barrett food shop
13.00 - takeaway
£22.45 - total

Thursday
4.00 - lunch
£4.00 - total

Friday
30.00 - Boots (contact lens solutions and birthday present for the bestie)
20.00 - Boots (nail polish and lipstick, woops!)
£30.00 - total
£20.00 - naughty total

Saturday
20.00 - Nandos
20.00 - M&S (underwear and tights, yawn)
£40.00 - total

Sunday
12.00 - Sainsburys food shop
100.00 - train tickets
£112.00 - total

TOTAL: £214.52
NAUGHTY TOTAL: £20.00

This is the THIRD week in a row that I have spent way over my £80 budget, and it's so annoying that yet again it's because I've had to buy train tickets! In my family we have a cluster of 4-5 birthdays in June/July that I've had to buy train tickets to travel home for, which has obviously cost a small fortune this week. Add to that my naughty Boots trip on Friday (I went to collect a prescription and left with a lighter purse - haul post coming soon!) and I didn't have the spending-free week I hoped for! I'm going to try my hardest to bring in my lunches this week at work, and reign in other spends to hopefully bring down the total for next week. Finger's crossed!

SAVE don't SPEND #13

Hi everyone! I seem to be spending a lot of money lately, a lot of it is unavoidable and it's quite frustrating! I'm not looking forward to seeing what the total from the last week will be...

Monday
12 - takeaway
£12.00 - total

Tuesday
3.50 - lunch
2.00 - Boots (bottle of water)
£6.50 - total

Wednesday
2.33 - Boots (toiletries)
3.70 - Holland & Barrett tea haul
£6.03 - total

Thursday
4.95 - lunch
53.00 - train tickets
£57.95 - total

Friday
3.50 - lunch
£3.50 - total

Saturday
77.00 - Debenhams (Chloe perfume, boring work underwear)
9.00 - hiring Zipcar
35.61 - food shop
£44.61 - total
£77.00 - naughty total

Sunday
NOTHING!
£0 - total

TOTAL: £130.59
NAUGHTY TOTAL: £77.00

This is the second week in a row that I have spent £50 over my £80 budget, and it's so annoying that for the second week in a row that's because I've had to buy train tickets! Hopefully the need for me to make impromptu journeys will end very soon and I will be able to share with you what this has all been about. You might also notice I've technically broken my beauty spending ban because I purchased some Chloe perfume from Debenhams, but it was 10% off and I am going to put it away until the end of May. Overall there's nothing I could have done to spend less this week due to circumstances, but I'm hoping there will be a dramatic change next week.
