Fabulous Nails #21

Another of my all-time favourite nail looks is this one!

I created it using my Barry M black polish (layered 3 times which took an AGE to dry!) and then using pretty much all my silver polishes and my Barry M mixed colour glitter polishes to create a gradual glitter effect - I had hoped it would look like my nails had been dipped in glitter!

What do you think? What are your favourite glitter colour combos?

Fabulous Nails #5

As promised, here's another post on my favourite nails looks from the past couple of weeks!
Starting with a brand that I don't usually buy - No7 'Stay Perfect' nail colour in Highland Mist. I had a £5 voucher for No7 at Boots and decided to try their nail polishes - I have to say I was impressed! You get quite a lot of polish for your money and some of the shades are very different to my usual brands (here's looking at you Barry M). Generally I think No7 polishes are a bit more grown up, this gorgeous neutral tone is a prime example. Delicious.
If you caught the last instalment of 'Fabulous Nails' you'll have seen how I experimented with pastel yellow and green to create a two-tone look. I did the same again more recently with these gorgeous Barry M paints - Cobalt Blue (darker) and Cyan Blue (lighter). Unfortunately it was only when I got on the Tube that I realised I'd created nails to match my Oyster card! Oops!
Last up is an old favourite - Barry M Nail Effects! I tried using the new White Nail Effects over Barry M Black polish and this was the effect - quite dramatic! I've had lots of stares and compliments whilst wearing this polish - its certainly an eyecatching design to wear!

Fabulous Nails #4

I'm back again with an update on my most recent nail varnish looks. I've been a bit less busy than usual recently so have had more time to play around with nail polish, so expect a couple more 'Fabulous Nails' posts in the next couple of weeks.
First up is the traditional black Nail Effects on a gold Miss Sporty base. This has to be my go-to nail look for when I'm having a bad day and need some perking up. I love the way the black shatter looks on metallic polishes, and this is my all time favourite combo. It's a slightly more neutral way of wearing the Nail Effects, in fact I wore my nails like this to a job interview (and got the job!)

This is a shimmery purple Miss Sporty shade that I tried for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I really like this shade but there's something about it that puts me off wearing it - maybe its not exciting enough? I'm not sure, maybe I'll be putting this one away and only bringing it out for wearing around the office.
Back to Barry M - I used the Lemon Ice Cream and the Mint Green to create a half and half nail look. It's something I've seen on lots of other people but wasn't entirely convinced I'd be able to paint it myself without making a mess! I managed it just fine and would encourage you all to give it a go, it's probably one of the easiest ways to get interesting nails (second only to Nail Effects of course!)

Fabulous Nails #1

I am always the first person to admit I'm a little bit crazy about nail varnish. I have dozens of colours & love wearing a fabulous colour - it never fails to boost my mood! I thought it would be nice to regularly share with you some of my favourite nail shades from the past couple of weeks!

First up is this cute summery yellow by Miss Sporty. I'd never used Miss Sporty nail varnishes until I paid a visit to my local Superdrug & they had them on offer - 3 for £4! They have some truly unique shades too! The varnish takes a few coats to build up the colour but I'm sure you'll agree its so summery & worth the effort!

Another Miss Sporty colour I invested in was this lovely turquoise/blue which I fell in love with at first sight! I haven't seen a comparable shade anywhere else & again, enjoy how bright & suitable for Spring the colour is!

Of course no nail post would be complete without a mention of Barry M Nail Effects! I am a HUGE fan of Barry M nail varnishes and I am besotted with the Nail Effects varnish! I used Maybelline Express Finish in this gorgeous silver colour underneath the nail effects paint to create this quite versatile look, which lasted a good 5 days without chipping!

Are you a nail varnish addict like me? What are your favourite nail varnish brands? Have you tried Nail Effects before?
