Slated: Pretty Polly Gloss Tights

I wear A LOT of tights - I prefer to wear dresses and skirts to work as I find them easier to style up than trousers. So I do get a lot of wear out of my tights.. I thought it was worth investing in some more expensive ones to see if they would wear better and bought these Pretty Polly 10 denier gloss tights:
Disappointed isn't the word. I was SO shocked at how bad quality these tights were - they're made from that really cheap tights material that seems to have snags in it even fresh out of the packet. Not what I was expecting at all. After one wear they were even more snagged and they laddered on their second wear, halfway through the working day. Absolutely terrible. Do not recommend you waste ~£5 on a pair of these. SLATED.

Fabulous Nails #12

After my mum bought me a nail art pen for Christmas, I was dying to try it out! This was one of the first looks I managed to do (a bit messy but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it)...
The left pic is of normal grey glossy nails and the right is with a matte finish. I think I prefer the matte - what do you think?
Here's what I used to create this look: Barry M grey polish, Andrea Fullerton black 'Dot & Flick' pen and Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle pen underneath and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat. I used my Nails Inc matte effect top coat to achieve the matte look.

I bought a new pair of shoes..

Hi everyone! Apologies for being absent for a few weeks, but I'm back with a new USB cable and a new camera so should be posting pretty regularly now! I have a bit of a backlog so expect a post every day or so for a couple of weeks!
First, here are some cute Spring shoes I bought last week - so excited about the weather getting warmer!
These cute blue pumps were £3 from Primark - an absolute bargain and SO comfy! I bought them as I was up in Leeds for the weekend and forgot to buy some casual shoes (I get the train up straight from work on a Friday) so they were perfect!
I love these little ballet pumps from Debenhams, Red Herring. They are the comfiest shoes I've bought in a while and were a steal at £16!
Have you invested in any new season shoes yet?

Lush mini haul

I popped into Lush just before Christmas to pick up a few presents for my family, and accidentally treated myself too! Oops. I bought a lip balm and a solid perfume - two things I'd been itching to try for ages!
This None of Your Beeswax is a delicious vegan lip balm that smells lovely and lemony. It sinks into your lips nicely as soon as you apply it and is one of the best balms I've used. It's not so good on top of lipstick (I use Carmex for that) but as a base and an everyday lip balm I can't fault it, its ideal. £5.25 for 10g, which will last you around 3 months for everyday use. Linky!
This is one of Lush's new (ish) solid perfumes, in scent 'Vanillary'. In December I knew my boyfriend was buying me a Zara chocolate scented perfume for Christmas and I picked this up knowing it would compliment it beautifully (I smell like a cupcake!)
I'd never used a solid perfume before but I really like this one. I keep it on my desk at work so I can have a bit of a mid-afternoon pick me up when I'm having a bad day! It smells absolutely divine, SO vanilla-ry(!!) It comes in a stick which I use to rub onto my wrists and the back of my neck. It lasts for quite a while without leaving any greasy or spot-creating residue - a problem I've had due to the alcohol in normal perfumes. At £6, I reckon this 'solid' is a bargain, I've been using mine every day since before Christmas and there's hardly any product gone. Definitely something to try out! Linky!
Are you a fan of Lush? What are your favourite products?

Oopsy Daisy

Despite having barely enough money to last me until payday, a couple of weekends ago I could not resist making these two random purchases from Bershka's sale...
How cute are these tan lace up boots? I've been looking for some lace up boots for AGES (literally more than a year!) so I was delighted to find these in the sale! As a vegan I don't wear leather and most of the nicer pairs I've seen have been leather - luckily these are manmade and were reduced from ~£50 to £26! I am a big fan of the colour as I think its a bit more versatile than a darker brown or black so I'll hopefully get a little more wear out of them!
I also found this red and green jumper absolutely wonderful! It's a little Christmassy because of its colour but the heart pattern is delightful! I think the fringing also makes it a little bit kitsch and different - I got it for £10 in the sale so absolutely over the moon!
Have you made any irresponsible for irresistable purchases in the last few weeks?

No 7 Skin Illuminator

I've been using my e.l.f. shimmering facial whip for quite a while now, and after getting about a million No 7 £5 off vouchers over the past month I decided it was time to try a new highlighter!
This is the No 7 Skin Illuminator. Back in the days when I worked at Boots (only 6-7 months ago but it feels like another lifetime) customers would rave about this product and I was always curious to see why! Now I understand the hype!
The Illuminator comes in 2 different shades - I picked up both Pink and Peach to test them out. The tube is quite small, and you only get 30ml but compared to the size of the e.l.f. facial whips its massive! I only use this over the top of my foundation and blusher to highlight my cheekbones and eye area so I don't use very much anyway. The applicator is this odd looking black brush. This is the one thing that I WISH I could change about this product - it is so messy and impractical to apply using a brush, especially when you only want to use a small amount. A simple nozzle applicator would be heaps better. Take heed No 7!
This is the product applied evenly in shade 'Pink'. I'm sure you'll agree that the effect is positively perfect for my purposes! It's subtle but gives a gorgeous even glow without appearing too glittery/shimmery. Its stunning and I really think it makes a difference to my overall make up look!
I also purchased the Peach shade:
Apologies for the less than ideal photos, but Peach is actually a little less subtle than pink (not sure it looks that way in the photos though). It's probably a bit better for summer daytime wear or wearing on a night out. But still very even application and really a gorgeous product. I would like to add that the longevity for this highlighter is superb and it stays put all day until you're taking your make up off before bed!
Overall I definitely recommend this as a highlighter - I love it! It's a bit expensive at £11.00 but I got £5 off so for £6 I think its value for money. Even full price it is heaps cheaper than YSL, Benefit and other highly regarded highlighters. Linky!
